Telecom Egypt Announces Changes to its Board of Directors

Cairo, June 3, 2015: Telecom Egypt (te) (Ticker: ETEL.CA; TEEG.LN), today announced changes to its Board of Directors, with the appointment of seven new board members to the Board of Directors by a decree of the Egyptian Prime Minister, representing the main shareholder - 80% Government stake - in the company, with immediate effect, for the remainder of the current term of the Board of Directors.

The seven newly appointed Board members include:

1. Dr. Mohamed Salem.

2. Eng. Tarek Aboualam.

3. Dr. Khaled Sherif.

4. Dr. Ahmed Abdelsalam.

5. Eng. Alsayed El Desouky.

6. Eng. Osama Yassin.

7. Dr. Eskandar Tooma.

 

Therefore, Telecom Egypt's new Board of Directors structure will be:

 

1. Dr. Mohamed Salem.

2. Eng. Tarek Aboualam.

3. Dr. Khaled Sherif.

4. Dr. Ahmed Abdelsalam.

5. Eng. Alsayed El Desouky.

6. Eng. Osama Yassin.

7. Dr. Eskandar Tooma.

8. Mr. Mohamed Attia Allah.

9. Mr. Ahmed Aboali.

10. Dr. Taha Khaled.

11. Eng. Walid Gad.

 

The new Board of Directors appointed Dr. Mohamed Salem as the new Chairman of the Board and Dr. Osama Yassin as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, with immediate effect.

CHAIRMAN

Dr. Mohamed Salem was the Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology from July 2011 to Aug 2012. As of 2002, he was the Chairman and Co-Founder of the Information Technology Institute (ITI).

Mohamed Salem holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in electrical engineering - computers and systems engineering from Ain Shams University, and a B.Sc. in electrical engineering from the Military Technical College.

 

MANAGING DIRECTOR & CHEIF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

 

Eng. Osama Yassin was first appointed as Board member in Telecom Egypt, in October 2013. In addition, to his experience as te's Board member and his familiarity with the executive senior management, Yassin has more than 30 years' experience in General Management, Project Management, and in the GSM Networks & Information Technology field, including a significant track record of accomplishments in the Middle Eastern and European markets.

Osama has extensive experience in management positions in various businesses, playing a major role in the conception and implementation of the company's business plan and strategic decisions. Previously, he was the CEO of Phonics Global Telecom, IT Director of Orascom Telecom Holding, Business Support & Project Director of Orascom Telecom Algeria - Djezzy, IT & Billing Director of Orascom Telecom Iraq - Iraqna and the Project Director of MTN/Investcom Global in Syria, Lebanon and Cyprus.

 

Osama's technical background and international experience in a variety of industries contributed to his effectiveness in managing teams, developing profitability, delivering value to customers, and building market share in highly complex regulated industries regional and internationally.

 

Eng. Yassin Holds a B.Sc. in Production Engineering, Industrial Planning from Alexandria University, Egypt.
