TE Data Builds on Interactive TV presence

ART Service Allows Subscribers to View Ramadan Series at the Customers' Convenience

 

Cairo, 1st September, 2009: TE Data, a subsidiary of Telecom Egypt (TE) (Ticker: ETEL.CA; TEEG.LN)announced that it is collaborating with Arab Radio and Television (ART) on a launch of a new service which enables TE Data customers to view Ramadan Series at their convenience, via Video-on-demand.

The service builds on TE Data's presence in Interactive TV and messaging, building on its recent partnership with Microsoft, TE Live.

"Today's announcement again demonstrates why TE Data is leading the market. Our ability to provide next-generation application services which require high-quality, broadband capacities combined with the vision to create customized content services is compelling." said Ahmed Ossama, TE Data's Managing Director. 

The site is designed so that a customer can reach the episode/series they desire easily. The service will cover eighteen series broadcast in Ramadan. Eng. Ossama Soleiman of TE Data mentioned that downloading the daily episode of any series does not take more than 40 minutes at 512 KB speed, and almost 20 minutes at 1 MB speed. Corporate customers may enjoy the new service by visit www.telive.net. 

TE Data was the first company in Egypt and the Middle East to provide video-on-demand and interactive TV over the Internet, launching IPTV three years ago, during the World Cup in June 2006. It re-launched the service through TE-VU site so that TE Data would maintain its status as the first and only ISP to provide TV services online.

 

TE Data customers can now use the new services for free in Arabic or English via TE Data website.
