Stobart Group hosts visit by Prime Minister  

Stobart Group, the UK's leading provider of multimodal transport and logistics solutions, today hosted the Prime Minister at Stobart Rail's HQ at Carlisle. Over 60 business leaders attended the event where the Prime Minister outlined the Government's actions to stimulate the economy and encourage growth. 

Stobart Group employs around 500 people in Cumbria  at well above the local average wage, putting around £15 million per annum directly into the economy.  During the visit the Prime Minister met with Stobart Group's Chief Executive, Andrew Tinkler, and other directors who gave him a tour of the business.

Andrew Tinkler, Chief Executive of Stobart Group, said: 

"We were delighted that the Prime Minister chose to visit Stobart and he was very interested to learn more about our business, its people and growth plans.  We did took the opportunity to discuss regional and national economic issues and how the Government and banking community could further help to stimulate growth, create jobs and improve infrastructure. 

The Prime Minister was also interested to learn of the progress we are making in rail and air and of our development plans for the Port of Weston. Environmental issues were also discussed and the Prime Minister was impressed with our fleet utilisation of 84% meaning only 16 % of our trucks are travelling without a load."
