MERCATOR GOLD PLC("Mercator Gold", "Mercator" or the "Company")

London 23 September 2008 - The Company, on 22 September 2008, received notification pursuant to the Transparency Directive's Transitional Provision 7, that:

Credit Suisse Securities (Europe) Ltd is interested in a total of 5,833,143 ordinary shares of 10 pence each in the Company, representing a holding of 8.03 per cent of the Company's issued share capital of 72,674,911. All of these shares carry voting rights. 

Morgan Stanley Securities Ltd is interested in a total of 3,026,503 ordinary shares of 10 pence each in the Company, representing a holding of 4.16% of the Company's issued share capital of 72,674,911. All of these shares carry voting rights.
