Press Release 7 January 2010 Verona Pharma plc ("Verona" or "the Company") Notice of Interest

The Company announces that it has today received notification that following an acquisition of 6,153,846 ordinary shares of 0.1p each in the Company ("Shares"), Henderson Global Investors Ltd is now directly interested in 17,636,883 Shares which represents 8.18% of the current total voting rights in the Company. Henderson Global Investors also has a further interest through contract for differences relating to 1,800,000 Shares, which together with the direct interest, represent a total interest of 19,436,883 Shares, or 9.02% of the current total voting rights of the Company.
