IPO of the Gold segment is under consideration

OAO Severstal makes a statement in connection with the media speculation

OAO Severstal ("Severstal") (LSE: SVST; RTS: CHMF), one of the world's leading vertically integrated steel and mining companies, announces that the Company notes some media speculation with regard to a possible IPO of its Gold segment. Whilst the Company does not comment on speculation, it repeats its previous statements that an IPO for the Gold segment is an option under consideration.
