UK COAL PLC ("UK Coal")

The following amendment has been made to the 'Holding in Company' announcement released on Monday, 5th October at 14.35 under RNS No 2484A.

Correction to the percentage of voting rights.

All other details remain unchanged.

Holding in Company

UK Coal advises that, pursuant to the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules, it was notified on 5 October 2009 that following a transaction on 1 October 2009 AEGON UK Group of Companies has a notifiable interest in 9,031,529 ordinary shares of 1p, representing 5.74% of the voting rights in the total issued ordinary share capital of UK Coal.
