Northern Electric plc

The board of Northern Electric plc announces that a dividend of 4.0305 pence (net) per Preference Share, relating to the six months to 30 September 2009, is payable on 30 September 2009 to holders of Preference Shares on the register as at 4 September 2009.

The offer made by CE Electric UK Ltd for the purchase of Northern Electric's Preference Shares closed on 30 June 2009. The Northern Electric Preference Shares remain listed and admitted to trading on the London Stock Exchange's market for listed securities.
