 Notification of Transactions of Directors/Persons Discharging Managerial Responsibilities ('PDMR') and Connected Persons 

The following information is given following the announcement made earlier today that Jonson Cox has been appointed Executive Chairman of UK Coal Plc with effect from 15 November 2010.

To comply with DTR 3.1.4, the Company advises that it was notified on 10 November 2010 that following the purchase on 10 November 2010 of 100,000 ordinary shares of 1p each in the Company at a price of 37.6 pence per share, Jonson Cox has an interest in 100,000 ordinary shares of 1p each which represents 0.033% of the total shares in issue.
