Avacta Group plc (the "Company") announces that it has received notification that on 10 July 2009, Alastair Smith, a director of the Company, sold 1,264,890 ordinary shares of 0.1p each in the capital of the Company ("Ordinary Shares"), and purchased within his SIPP 1,249,498 Ordinary Shares at 1.5 pence per share. Following this transaction, Alastair Smith is beneficially interested in 49,561,630 Ordinary Shares, representing approximately 4.4% of the issued share capital of the Company.
