BAE Systems plc announces that Lord Mark Sedwill has stepped down from his role as Non-Executive Director with immediate effect.

At Lord Robertson's request, Lord Sedwill has agreed to chair a Review and Challenge Panel for the UK Government's Strategic Defence Review. Because of this, and his evolving parliamentary and other commitments, he has decided to leave the Board. 

Lord Sedwill said "It has been a great privilege to have served as a Non-Executive Director of this outstanding British company, which is vital to the UK's national security, industrial base and export performance."

Cressida Hogg, Chair of BAE Systems said "On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Mark for his contribution. The Board will miss his wise counsel and deep expertise on defence and security issues."
