Appointment of Independent Director and Retirement of Director

The Company announces the appointment of Steve Hicks as a non-executive director to the Board, with effect from 16 January 2014.

The Company also announces the resignation of Graeme Dell from the Board of Directors, with effect from 16 January 2014, following his stepping down from the Board of Ashmore Group plc with effect from 25 November 2013. The Board thanks Graeme for his valuable contribution to the Company during his time as a Director.

Steve Hicks will be the Ashmore Group plc ("Ashmore") nominated director on a number of Ashmore fund boards. From June 2010 until January 2014 he was the Ashmore Group Head of Compliance. Prior thereto he was Director, Group Compliance at the London listed private equity company, 3i Group plc. During his career, Steve, who is a qualified UK lawyer, has held a number of legal and compliance roles over a period of more than 25 years.

Steveis not considered to be independent due to his connection with the Investment Manager (Ashmore Investment Management Limited).
