Akers Biosciences, Inc (AIM:AKR), a leading designer and manufacturer of rapid diagnostic screening and testing products, regrets to announce the sudden death of Edward Mulhare, a non-executive Director of the Company. Mr. Mulhare passed away at his home on Friday, 24 February, 2012.

Mr. Mulhare, a former Chairman and CEO of Merrill Lynch Interfunding, and director of fifteen companies, had resided on the ABI board of directors since 1994.

Dr. Raymond F. Akers, Executive Chairman and Founder of ABI, commented, "Ed has been my good friend for over twenty years, and was the first outside investor in our Company. He played an integral role in the development of our business strategies, and I was fortunate to have worked with him."
