Melrose Resources PLC02 May 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2 May 2007 MELROSE RESOURCES PLC Appointment of New Chief Executive Melrose Resources plc (LSE: MRS) ("Melrose"), the oil and gas exploration,development and production company, is pleased to announce that Mr David HowardThomas will be joining Melrose as its new Chief Executive. David Thomas holds a BSc in Mining Engineering and an MSc in PetroleumEngineering and has 28 years of experience in the international oil and gasindustry. He started his career at Conoco, where he held various positions inpetroleum engineering, economic planning and management in the UK and UnitedArab Emirates. In 1995 he joined Lasmo, the British independent oil and gascompany, where he became the Group General Manager Operations. In 2001 Lasmo wasacquired by Eni and Mr Thomas subsequently served as Regional Vice President forthe North Sea, then Russia, Asia and Australasia and, later, West Africa. Duringthis period he served on the board of a number of Eni's international subsidiarycompanies. In 2006 he joined the Canadian exploration and production company,Centurion Energy International Inc, where he held the position of President andChief Operating Officer. It is expected that David Thomas will join Melrose inJune 2007.
