APPOINTMENT OF INSPECTOR TO EXAMINE SPECIFIC ISSUES RELATING TO THE DCC GROUP'S SHAREHOLDING IN FYFFES BETWEEN 1995 AND 2000

The Irish High Court today made an Order appointing Mr Bill Shipsey SC as an Inspector under Section 8 of the Irish Companies Act, 1990 to examine specific issues relating to the legal and beneficial interests of DCC plc and two of its subsidiaries, S&L Investments Limited and Lotus Green Limited, in the shares of Fyffes plc between February 1995 and April 2000. The High Court Order does not relate to the ongoing business of the Group.

The board of directors of each of the three companies will now consider the terms of the judgment and a further announcement will be made at an early date. A stay has been placed on the Order until 2pm on Thursday 31 July 2008 pending any appeal.
