Tristel PLC29 August 2006 For release29 August 2006 Tristel Plc Technology Acquisition Agreement with IVC Limited, New Zealand Tristel plc ("Tristel"), the chlorine dioxide specialist that supplies infectionand contamination control products to healthcare and institutionalestablishments and the pharmaceutical and food processing industries, announcesthat it has entered into a technology acquisition agreement with IVC Limited, ("IVC"). IVC is Tristel's New Zealand distributor and its principal shareholderis Mark Fraundorfer, an internationally renowned Urologist. Under the terms of the agreement IVC transfers to Tristel the design and patentrights to two inventions which it has created to work specifically withTristel's chlorine dioxide chemistry. The inventions are a sterilizing traysystem which enables single use decontamination of endoscopic equipment and ahygiene work station which enables Tristel's highly effective sporicidalchemistry to be easily applied to floors and walls in high risk wards anddepartments of hospitals. IVC has funded the design and development process to date and transfers theintellectual property created in return for unspecified future royalties. Commenting upon the agreement, Paul Swinney, Chief Executive of Tristel, said: "Outside of the most advanced healthcare markets, where endoscopes are mainlyprocessed in sophisticated and costly automated machines, the majority ofendoscopes are disinfected in basic trays and sinks. These can only holddisinfectant liquids that have to be used repeatedly for many instruments over aperiod of many hours or even days. "The Tristel tray system, combined with Tristel's novel burstable sachet,Tristel Fusion, enables the disinfectant to be used once and to be dedicated toone instrument only. "This achieves one of the key features of the most sophisticated endoscopereprocessing machines at a fraction of their cost, and will help Tristelpenetrate many overseas markets with its chlorine dioxide disinfectants."
