Hosts Security Seminar inย Sri Lanka
Westminsterย International Ltd, a division of the Westminsterย Group Plcย ('Westminster' or 'the Group'), the AIM listed supplier of system solutions and products to the security, defence, fire protection and safety markets worldwide,ย in conjunction with the British High Commissionย (BHC)ย and UK Trade & Industry (UKTI),ย hasย held a two day security seminar inย Colombo,ย Sri Lanka.ย The event,ย held on 26thย & 27thย August 2009 at the BHC's conference facilities, wasย extremely well attended.
With the regular war in the North of Sri Lanka ending recently,ย howeverย the potential for insurgentย activity increasing, it was felt that this was an opportune time to conduct security seminars for commercial organisations and government/defence departments. The focus of discussionsย wasย blast protection, security of buildings, enhancing perimeter security, protection of criticalย infrastructureย and various anti terrorism and crime reduction solutions.ย
The event was conceived and run by Westminster's regional director Peter Lalorย in conjunction with Westminster Lanka, Westminster's local agents. Extensiveย supportย wasย provided by theย BHCย in Sri Lanka and UKTI.
Theย first dayย had a 'commercial' emphasis with security managers and facilities managers invited from large commercial companies and organisations:

Presentations during this session covered areas such as: a Westminster Overview,ย Building &ย Perimeter Security, Blast Protection, Entry Screening, Mobile X-Ray Scanners and Cash-in-Transit.ย
Theย second dayย focused on Governmental clients, withย delegatesย from relevant:
Ministries
Departments
Agencies
Armed Forces
Presidential Guard
The presentations were changed to cover specific areas of interest including: a Westminster Overview, Physical Security, Surveillanceย and Trackingย Systems, IED Protection,ย Identity Resolution Analysis, Airport Security and Maritime Security.ย
Westminster's regional office in Dubai is currently dealing with the resulting requests.ย
