Director Shareholding Notification

Sterling Energy Plc ("Sterling" or the "Company") (AIM: SEY), an oil company with interests in Africa and the Middle East, announces the following transactions in which Directors have interests.

Philip Frank, Exploration Director, has a beneficial interest in the purchase of 100,000 ordinary shares acquired at an average price of 36.71 pence per share on 21 June 2012. Following this purchase, Dr Frank is beneficially interested in a total of 132,204 ordinary shares representing 0.06% of the issued share capital of the Company.

Angus MacAskill, Chief Executive, has a beneficial interest in the purchase of 100,000 ordinary shares acquired between 21 and 22 June 2012 at an average price of 36.57 pence per share. Following this purchase, Mr MacAskill is beneficially interested in a total of 302,000 ordinary shares representing 0.14% of the issued share capital of the Company.
