Premier Farnell plc - Pre close statement 31st January 2014 Premier Farnell plc ("the Group"), a global leader in high service distributionof technology products and solutions, today announces its pre close tradingupdate ahead of publishing full year results on 20th March. Group sales per day for the full year are expected to grow 2.6% year on year asall divisions delivered growth in the second half. Excluding sales of RaspberryPi, we expect Group sales to grow 3.5% year on year in the second half.Divisional sales are expected to be as follows: Sales growth(a) H2 2013/14 FY 2013/14 Europe 2.8% 1.9% APAC 14.9% 12.4% MDD Europe & APAC 4.7% 3.5% MDD Americas 1.3% -0.6% MDD Other 3.0% 3.6% MDD Division 3.2% 1.9% IPD Division(b) 17.9% 11.2% Group 4.2% 2.6% a. Sales growth is based on sales per day for continuing businesses at constant exchange rates and for like periods. b. Sales growth in IPD division excludes sales resulting from the acquisition of assets of Reach Engineering LLC. Laurence Bain, Group Chief Executive Officer, commented: "The ongoing investments made to our customer proposition have begun topositively impact our growth rates, delivering improving Group sales per daythrough the second half. As indicated in our third quarter interim management statement, we continue toexpect the Group's full year operating margin to be broadly in line with thefirst half. Whilst we anticipate that gross margin will be approximately 0.4percentage points lower than the first half, our continued focus on drivingcost efficiencies will deliver operating margin and operating profit in linewith our expectations. Given current market conditions, we anticipate that the Group's operatingmargin will be maintained at a similar level in the 2014/15 financial year aswe seek to optimise business performance and enhance our customer proposition."
