NORTHERN BLOCK EXPLORATION UPDATE

Ā

Nyota Minerals Limited (ASX/AIM: NYO), the gold exploration and development company in East Africa, announces the discovery of a new gold anomaly at the Boka-West target in the Company's 100% owned Northern Block exploration licence areas located in Western Ethiopia.

Highlights

Ā

Ā·; Boka-West gold-in-soil anomaly extends for 2km in length and is up to 500m wide

Ā·; Gold in-soil-anomaly coincidental with anomalies for Cu, Zn and Bi (Figure 1)

Ā·; Three out of the five trenches assayed so far have returned significant Au intersections (Table 1)

Ā·; Peak intersections include:

o 7.40m at 1.49g/t Au;

o 5.00m at 1.03 g/t Au; and

o 1.00m at 10.85g/t

Richard Chase, Chief Executive Officer, commented, "The delineation of a large target at Boka-West is testament to the success of our systematic exploration programme in the Northern Blocks. The continued exploration of our greenfield exploration assets is an important facet of Nyota's development strategy, complementing our advanced pre-production project at Tulu Kapi.

Subject to the first renewal of the exploration licences and the requisite funding, we anticipate a first phase of drilling at Boka-West during the 2013-2014 field work season."

Exploration Update

Boka-West is located west of the Boka-Sirba target, and is on the boundary between the Brantham and Towchester licences. The Boka-West target was identified through a combination of artisanal workings, analysis of heavy minerals concentrate ('HMC') samples and rock chip sampling. It was subsequently followed up with a detailed soil sampling programme to refine the anomalous target zone and then trenching, which completed in February 2013.

Gold mineralisation is associated with meta-sedimentary rocks (including marble, quartzite and mixed quartz-sericite and quartz-chlorite schist) marginal to syn-to-post tectonic intrusives (Figure 2).

Following the rainy season, and subject to funding, further soil analysis and trenching will be undertaken to identify and refine targets for a subsequent drill campaign.

Soil Sampling

A total of 630 soil samples were taken from the Boka-West target area (Figure 1). All samples were analysed for base metals using Nyota's portable X-Ray fluorescence device ('Niton XRF'), to identify any anomalous concentrations. The XRF is accurate for the determination of base metals which, combined with Nyota's knowledge of gold mineralisation in the district aided the interpretation for likely gold mineralisation.

Samples were prepared by drying, crushing then sieving (200 micron mesh). Each sample was split, with a representative sample being taken for Niton XRF analysis, with the remainder being stored.

All samples within the Central Anomaly target zone were subsequently sent to ALS laboratories in Johannesburg ('ALS') for gold and multi element analysis. Samples 100m either side of the anomaly target zone, were also sent for analysis to maintain a strict quality control on sampling and to ensure on-going calibration of the Niton XRF device.

Having defined the Central Anomaly and confirmed it to be anomalous in gold, further soil samples were taken over the Southern Anomaly, the Northern Anomaly and the North East Anomaly.

The combined gold-in-soil geochemical anomaly is defined by samples containing in excess of 0.020 ppm (20 ppb) gold, with a peak of 0.390ppm (390ppb) gold and extends for some 2km north - south (Figures 1 and 2). Further work is required in the area between the Central and Southern Anomalies and the South Anomaly is open to the south.

The North East anomaly, which overlies the gabbro intrusive, tested negative for gold.

Trench Sampling

A first phase of trenching was completed in February 2013 after the Central Anomaly tested positive for gold. Six short trenches of between 50 and 90m in length each were excavated and sampled (Figure 3). Results for five of the trenches have been received (BWTR-005 is pending) and three of these have returned significant positive Au intersections as shown in Table 1.

Ā

The Boka-West target shows a distinctive relationship between gold and copper and is hosted in the marble and meta-sedimentary schist, as seen in Figure 1 and 2. BWTR_001 and BWTR_004 (Figure 3), which are distal to the contact between these two units, returned minimal gold intersections and have no significant anomalism. Gold mineralization therefore appears to be associated with the marble and quartz-chlorite meta-sediment contact.
