MOTIVE TELEVISION PLC ("Motive"), AGREES GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS FOR PATENTED TERRESTRIAL TV ("DTT") TECHNOLOGY

Cutting-edge digital broadcasting technology enables broadcasters to receive new revenues from VOD, catch-up TV, and non-linear content

Simple plug-and-play box brings many of the advantages of today's multichannel services to the home without the need for a satellite dish, broadband, or cable connection

Motive Television PLC (MTV.L) has secured the global rights from Adecq Digital SL to distribute the patented BesTV® digital terrestrial technology to broadcasters worldwide.

BesTV® technology enables broadcasters using their existing DTT digital broadcasting signal to broadcast programmes to a DTT set-top box, offering viewers not only the complete range of available DTT channels, but also catch-up television, video-on-demand including movies and additional entertainment and information programmes - without requiring an internet connection.

As an enhancement to the extraordinarily successful Freeview box in the UK, consumers using a BesTV®-equipped Freeview+ box will be able to receive popular "catch-up television" and video-on-demand programmes without having to pay for broadband, cable, or satellite subscriptions.

The agreement with Spanish technology developer Adecq Digital SL gives Motive the right to offer this groundbreaking technology in all territories except Spain, where it is already successfully in operation, and Italy where it will launch this autumn. The BesTV® technology is the result of a three-year research and development effort by the Barcelona technology developer Adecq SL.

Motive Television emphasised that the new technology was particularly attractive because it is available today, in operation, and ready to roll out to global markets.

For traditional broadcasting organisations BesTV® offers a bespoke range of new revenue sources and attractive new and immediate income streams.

Mick Pilsworth, Chairman of Motive Television PLC, said:

"Motive has refocused its growth on the rapid rollout of DTT, the fastest-growing segment in the television industry, and this agreement to distribute BesTV® is a major step forward. We believe there is a market of hundreds of broadcasters worldwide who will find this new technology essential to the growth of their business."

Len Fertig CEO Motive Television, added:

"BesTV® is an important step in the evolution of multi-channel television to Television 2.0, a greener, lower cost more efficient way of bringing information and entertainment to the home. We believe broadcasters, pay television channel operators, and content owners will find this new technology the optimal way to deliver the most popular entertainment to the most people."

Adecq founders Giuseppe Flores d'Arcais and André Vanyi Robin commented:

"The BesTV® technology is future-proof, and can operate in hybrid environments with broadband-based solutions in the next generation. We are working with numerous broadcasting technology developers and manufacturers to ensure that the BesTV® technology is incorporated in their designs. Adecq remains in a leading edge position to bring sophisticated new revenue opportunities to the broadcast industry in a way that viewers find straightforward and compelling."
