Board Appointment

Johnston Press plc (the "Company"), one of the leading local media groups in the UK, announces that Jamie Buchan will join the Board as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from 1 June 2017. He replaces Ralph Marshall who will stand down from the Board at the Company's Annual General Meeting on 22 May 2017. Mr Buchan has been appointed to the Company in accordance with a shareholder agreement between the Company and Gromwell Limited dated 14 May 2008. Gromwell Limited is a member of the same group of companies as Pan Ocean Management Limited, a significant shareholder in the Company. He will become a member of the Company's Nomination Committee upon appointment. 

Jamie is Executive Chairman of Craigewan Limited and a Non-Executive director of Hexadex Group Limited and Tropical Islands Gmbh. He was previously Chief Executive Officer of Southern Cross Healthcare Group plc until his resignation on 15 November 2011. Prior to that he was Chief Executive Officer of London International Exhibition Centre plc having also worked for Whitbread plc and Centrica plc where he held divisional Marketing Director positions. He started his career with Esso plc.

Notes:

Due to an administrative oversight Mr Buchan remained registered as a director of Southern Cross Healthcare Services Limited (which was dissolved in September 2016) until April 2016. There is no further information required to be disclosed under paragraph 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Conduct Authority relating to Mr Buchan's appointment.
