Gyrus Group PLC24 May 2006 24 May 2006 Gyrus licenses PK technology to Intuitive Surgical Inc. for use in robot-assisted keyhole surgery Reading, UK - Gyrus Group PLC (GYG.L), a leading supplier of medical devicesthat reduce trauma and complications in surgery, announces a developmentpartnership with Intuitive Surgical, Inc, a global leader in robotic-assistedminimally invasive surgery (MIS), for the development of new robotic surgeryinstrumentation. Intuitive Surgical, Inc.'s leading robotic technology, the da Vinci SurgicalSystem, is already used in several major institutions worldwide in advanced orcomplex surgical procedures. The agreement enables Intuitive Surgical tolicense Gyrus's proprietary PK(TM)Technology for the development of a newinstrument for the da Vinci Surgical System. Intuitive's Endowrist(R) PKDissecting Forceps will provide da Vinci Surgical System users with greatertissue management capabilities during robotically assisted surgery. Under the new agreement, Gyrus will receive a licence fee and royalties on salesof Endowrist PK Dissecting Forceps for robotic applications using the da VinciSurgical System.
