ELECTROCOMPONENTS PLC ("the Company")

Further to our announcement of 30 July 2010, Peter Johnson has today taken up his appointment as Chairman of the Company, following the retirement of Helmut Mamsch at the recent AGM.

Peter is Chairman of DS Smith Plc, a leading international producer of paper and packaging materials and distributor of office products. He is also a Non-Executive Director of SSL International plc and a Member of the Supervisory Board of Wienerberger AG.

Peter currently holds 50,000 shares in Electrocomponents plc.
