Distribution Agreement

4 Jul 2005 06:00

Embargoed Release: 07:00hrs Monday 4 July 2005 Densitron Technologies Plc (`Densitron') Distribution Agreement Densitron are pleased to announce that it has secured an agreement with AEG ofGermany to exclusively supply customized Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) productsto Petrol Station's forecourts. The product will be marketed by Densitron'sFerrograph unit enabling the Densitron to offer a complete Petrol Price Totemsolution integrating AEG LCDs with Ferrograph advanced electronics andruggedised enclosures.Unlike other Light Emitting Diode (LED) based electronic displays AEG LCDsenable Ferrograph to offer petrol retailers the ability to reproduce manycorporate fonts and colours in the display so that branding is maintained.Rob Smith, Finance Director, commented:"With the recent surge in the price of oil, petrol retailers will soon be facedwith the dilemma of how to display a price per litre greater than 99.9p. Thisis one of the hidden issues when there is such a radical change in a commodityprice. How do you display the price of a product when it goes over a limit?"Edward Price, Group Director of Technology, explains:"Most petrol stations advertise their prices to motorists using mechanicaldisplays that are limited to three characters and will be faced with theprospect of having to upgrade their totems. We started noticing that someforecourts were using crude LED and realized that this approach wasfundamentally flawed. With LED displays you can only offer a narrow viewingangle meaning that you can only see the price if you are directly in line withthe totem. The other main problem with LED is that they only come in a limitedchoice of colours and with a very limited choice of fonts. The AEG LCD productovercomes these problems and offers the advantages of having twice the life andlower power usage meaning that if offers a much lower total cost of ownership. Our relationship with AEG goes back many years and they recently introduced usto what they have been doing in Europe. When we saw this and realized thepotential in the UK we immediately started to develop a total solution. What wedo is take AEGs LCD and put them in a ruggedized housing with electronics thatenable the prices to be changed wirelessly using Bluetooth or WiFi. With oursystem it is now possible to change prices instantly from a PDA or notebookinstantly."Densitron can confirm that the have commenced marketing the product to a numberof the larger multiples who have already shown extensive interest in theproduct. -Ends- For Further Information please contact:Rob SmithDensitron Technologies PlcTel, 01959 542 000Andrew Tan/Chris RobertsHansard CommunicationsTel, 020 7245 1100ENDDENSITRON TECHNOLOGIES PLC
