Executive Director Appointment

Bowleven, the Africa focused oil and gas exploration group traded on AIM, is pleased to announce that David Clarkson has been appointed Operations Director of the Company with effect from today.

David brings extensive oil and gas industry experience to the Bowleven Board and management team. During a career spanning over 30 years in BP he held a variety of senior executive positions in the Upstream business, including leading major project developments in frontier locations and as Technical Vice President for Projects & Engineering, and most recently in the Rumaila Field in Iraq.

David has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde and is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Commenting on the appointment, the Company's Chairman, Ronnie Hanna, said

David has considerable international oil and gas experience founded in over 30 years with BP, including a proven record in leading and delivering projects in complex operating and geo-political environments. His technical expertise and development leadership experience will be of great benefit to the Group. My colleagues and I are very much looking forward to working together with David as we progress our development plans in Cameroon."

In relation to the appointment of Mr Clarkson to the Board of Directors, Bowleven confirms that there is nothing further to disclose in relation to his appointment under Schedule Two, paragraph (g) of the AIM Rules for Companies, save as disclosed below:

With the exception of today's appointment the composition of the Board of Directors of Bowleven plc remains unchanged. As announced on 30 May, Phil Tracy resumed his role as Non Executive Director of the Company with effect from 1 June 2013 having assumed the role of Operations Director on an interim basis in July 2011.
