Pre-Close Trading Update 

The Board of Advanced Power Components plc, a specialist distributor and manufacturers' representative of electronic components, today provides a pre-close trading update for the year ended 31 August 2008. 

The Board expects to announce revenues and pre-tax profits in line with the indications given at the time of its interim results announcement in May 2008. 

Revenues generated by ongoing activities were consistent with budget until the fourth quarter, which was disappointing principally due to the combined effects of a significant deferred shipment and the sudden adverse movement in the sterling to US dollar exchange rate. However, Contech Electronics, acquired in June 2008, has exceeded expectations and has more than made up for this shortfall. 

Good progress has been made in the integration of both Novacom Microwave, acquired in April 2008, and Contech Electronics and synergistic opportunities are already becoming apparent. Accordingly, the outlook for the Company remains strong.
