Albemarle & Bond Holdings PLC, a Specialist Retail Financial Services Provider, is pleased to announce today the appointment of Robin Ashton as an independent non executive director with immediate effect. Robin will also become Chair of the Audit Committee replacing John Allkins who, as previously announced, will not be seeking re-election at the November AGM.
Robin Ashton has more than 25 years experience in financial services having previously held the positions of treasurer, finance director and chief executive of Provident Financial plc ("Provident") from 1983 to 2006. He has considerable experience of credit risk in the full range of non-standard lending products as well as developing online channels to market for credit products.
Robin also spent a year as Chief Executive of London Scottish Bank plc from December 2007 working closely with the regulator and lenders whilst attempting to refinance and rescue the business before it finally went into administration in late 2008. He is currently a non executive director of Leeds Building Society and Shawbrook Bank Limited.

Following Robin's appointment, all of the board committees are chaired by independent non executive directors and have a majority of independent non executive directors."
