Before i retired lemon....i worked in the iron and steel industry for 40 years

so when china bought the rods and wires,from the west,for their infastructure programme.

i was there.

40 year ago,they had to import about 90% of their semi finished goods,like what we sold them.

now we sell a fraction,if any.....they over built their steel industry ,imposed about 20/30% tarriffs,import charges,once their industry,was up and running.

but they now overproduce on iron and steel....and so dumped that overcapacity and subsidised,to us lot,in the west.

ime no trump fan,but in his first term of odffice,he gave the chinese dumping a big suprise....tarrifs

what's good for the goose,is good for the gander....

and yes,they dont work for the country for the customer,that was going to buy that product,before it had a 25% tax,added to it.

and why china,the worlds biggest tarrif hitter.....uses tarrifs.

so stifle imports and protect internal products.....like autos

hence why america and europe,have gone down the china road,in the last 8 years.

they have woken up to it,it now workes both ways.
