actually, the west is rich in agriculture/steelmaking/manufacturing and mining,so ukraine,as a lot to lose.
so if russia invaded alaski(it used to be russian held territory),he'll want it back and fight and rightly so,so why should zelenski give everything and more and putin, gives nothing.
and that deal,as been on the table by putin for years,so all trump is doing,is offering ukraine, putins deal.
that's not a deal,that's SURRENDER OR CAPITULATION.
.
given the area's adjacent to rimea, would also give putin,a short corridor to odessa, ukraines main export port,so when putin decides to re invade,if he got odessa, the main export port on the black sea,is gone
and then moldova,is next door...and moldova have a russian enclave, within it,on/near the ukranian border.
.
so its not quite as simple as surrender land, ukraines main exports, mainly grain and fxpo's exports.....would be at risk.
.
before 2022,europes military, although fragmented, was on par with russia's and now 90% of russia's military heave ground hardware,is gone,so you could argue......russia aint tthe power size,it was 3 years ago.(army wise)
.
cards on the table?...putin,isnt the power,he makes out,but listening to him talk,BS comes to mind.
.
and yes,its well documented for decades, europe as buried its head in the sand, obama pointed it out 15 years ago, when he was around.
macron also said in his early speeches, europe needs its own army/security
so that's one thing, trump's mandate, was spot on,he got europe and us,to pull our finger and to re arm.
