What would they do with those shops? In many towns & cities, there is a card factory & Claire's in close proximity to each other. They'd have to go into business selling something other than cards and gifts, 2 shops selling the same thing in such close proximity isn't a good thing. You're just increasing operating costs for the same cash take. Not worth the effort or cost IMO.

@ Gruyere. You are correct. That was the plan. To hold them in treasury as future incentive awards to employees.

I've only got a small holding of 1000 shares in here, so not gonna get stung too badly if things go further south. I'm not gonna sell at a loss as a kneejerk reaction. I'll hold for now and re-assess as time goes by. There may well be a top up opportunity at some point in the not too distant. I'll wait and see for now I think.

Yes I think it will. Labour are phucking everyone over with taxes and so on. No spare free income to spend on buying from these companies, therefore affecting investment beyond those willing to take on extra risk.

They had a few quid they wanted/needed to spend for tax purposes, they could just as simply decided they wanted a bigger piece of the pie, or at a push, buying more as a takeover bid? Who knows. Doubtlessly if there is some kind of motive at play, it'll reveal itself at some point.

None really. They're going to be held in treasury to be used as incentives for staff, so they'll be back in circulation at some point.

I don't think it's all that bad to be fair, but I've only recently bought my holding here at 89p a pop.

I wasn't expecting much from FP, as we've only had it for 5 minutes. I'll wait until t next year's results come in to judge how it (FP) has performed.

In fairness, I never go too large on shares like this. Any share really. Usually around 30-40,000 as a maximum. I get that some are in shares like this in a big way with 100's of 1000's, possibly millions. And If they're prepared to take those kind of risks, they richly deserve the rewards they get if they come good.

But it's too high a risk strategy for my liking, but that's just me.

Yes, I've pretty much done the same thing. I've took the hit and reduced my 35,000 holding down to 10,000.

I expressed doubts in the first place when it was announced they were going into crypto, but as others have said, the silence since has been deafening, which makes me suspect they've got the timings wrong and have fallen on it's @rse somewhat.
