WARSAW, Nov 5 (Reuters) - British energy company 3Legs Resources sold its last shale gas concessions in Poland to Sweden's Stena Group, the firm said on Wednesday, making it the latest in a series of foreign investors to back out of Polish shale gas. The firm follows Total, Marathon Oil, Talisman Energy and Exxon Mobil in pulling out of Polish shale gas, which has failed to live up to its initial promise. Earlier this year, 3Legs already backed out of its three shale gas concessions in northern Poland, after test drilling did not yield satisfactory results. It said the last three permits, in the eastern part of the onshore Baltic Basin, would be sold to a unit of Stena Group for 0.5 million euros ($625,400). Stena Group's businesses include ferry routes, shipping, and offshore drilling. Poland launched a major push into shale gas three years ago, aiming to wean itself off Russian gas supplies. But in 2012 a government report cut Poland's estimated shale gas reserves by about 90 percent. Challenging geological conditions as well as legal uncertainty have also undercut investor interest. Chevron and ConocoPhillips are still operating in Polish shale gas, along with a number of independents and Polish energy firms. If AVP and PIRI are the other 80% holders we will have to wait untill after the 13th before any issue of news. The Directors believe these proposals will serve the interests of Shareholders better than a liquidation of the Company, as previously envisaged, since they will enable an immediate distribution of the Company's remaining cash reserves without the additional cost and delay of a liquidation process. Following the completion of the Subscription, 3Legs will retain its AIM admission and Qualifying Shareholders will hold approximately 20 per cent. of the enlarged share capital of the Company. An RTO is a merger used by private companies to become publicly traded without resorting to an initial public offering. Doesn't make sense that Redmond would use a listed company as an investment vehicle to do a reverse takeover of another listed company, that is itself an investment vehicle. The initial investment by Pires into AVP was because I think Redmond had something big in mind for AVP which is still in the works. On a seperate issue, the fact that Redmond is now involved in 3LEGS could mean there is something else big in mind. I wouldn't be suprised if Pires were looking at doing a similar sized investment into 3LEGS that they took in AVP but I don't think AVP and 3LEGS are necessarily doing something together. I reckon the fact that Piri had investments in RAME, pre IPO, and then AVP suggest that Redmond is using Pires to gather potentially very lucrative deals in several different companies.
