RE: Licences granted15 May 2026 18:37
The word integration in the rns intrigued me and I didn't want to overlook it.
Rather than treating small-scale mining as an isolated, informal, or purely subsistence activity, "integration" focuses on transitioning local miners into the mainstream economy by bridging the gap between informal operations and structured, sustainable industry.
Historically, a massive portion of Tanzania's ASM sector operated informally. Integration involves bringing these miners into the official legal fold through Primary Mining Licences.
By decentralising the permitting process to Zonal and Resident Mines Offices, the government integrates local mining directly into district-level governance, making licensing accessible to rural communities and curbing illicit mineral smuggling.
Under Tanzanian regulations (such as the Mining Technical Support to Small Scale Miners Regulations), integration means pairing local PML holders with qualified technical service providers. If specialized mining or processing expertise is not available locally, foreign entities can integrate into the sector, but only via mandatory joint ventures with indigenous Tanzanian companies
I'm more than prepared to wait for results, but it seems that things could move on a hell of a lot faster for situations like ours, than in the past.
