This is a very mysterious share to hold.
No news anywhere, share price increases regularly, what do you do? I am a long term holder, back to a small profit, I know many need £2.50 or More to break even.
On the trend I bought just 2000 more yesterday, I'm thinking little chance of going bust, some dividend, growing retail availability of stock via new retail distribution networks, multi national avenue's seem to keep growing. This will be the last spend, spend, spend Christmas for many. Great opportunity for this company to grow sales. There is always at least one new retail success story in a tough market at Christmas! Fingers crossed!
My son works in Co Op retail, sales are consistently good.
I mentioned before, people will and have stopped going out so much ( me included), but there are still plenty of people with money, in this distorted country. My view is positive here, we might actually gain premium product sales, should people want to eat nice things at home, still cheaper than going out, also we should gain in other areas (volume by people eating everyday products/own brand made by us, at home) and innovation of new products that may just fill a gap, in the recession market. More importantly to me, I believe the company is being galvanised and improved very quietly, under the radar.
We will also soon understand a bit more, the real contribution or not of, The Spice Tailor, fingers crossed. All IMHO of course.
Well, in considered gambling, which is what we investors do, sometimes that reason is as good as any!
You have had success anyway this far, may it continue, then hopefully those who bought in higher can also celebrate your prediction in the not too distant future!
Very interesting, but as recently mentioned, it is all very amicable.Maybe some value for a TO, simply this business has restructured, performs well, is well run, getting ready to be a big player again, as demonstrated with this weeks purchase.
I would want plenty of renumeration if I was on the board and had gone through the last 2.5 years.
I'm hoping it doesn't happen, but if it does then that's life.
All looking very encouraging really, I mentioned a while back that this is looking more solid as the impending economic storm passes through. As thought, share price has dropped a bit, but stabilised, simply think we must head through to a sustained 125p for the next step and more SP growth. I don't mind when I am in for the medium time at least.
Dogger, Many thanks indeed for that info.
Many thanks indeed. May i just ask then does the product vary if it goes own brand, you know like more % of a couple of the cheaper ingredients, maybe more sauce less pepper in a Sharwoods equivalent etc.
Can you see a time where you will be back in?
I sold half at £1.20 ish last week expecting to buy back in at £1.05-.07 ish, but it seems pretty solid.
I am holding though because I still feel there will be a take over bid eventually, also i am keen on the business long term, if it stays stable for a few weeks i will increase holding again, whether it is 1.10 or 1.20 ish, just need this next few weeks to re assure me, we currently are just about the right value price, whether there is good or bad news, i feel it will ride through it. Fingers crossed.
Also i can't see much undervalued personally, with out big risk
Good to see some different views being discussed here on some potentially polarising topics. If only society took this approach!
Some of the other boards on LSE go mad over the slightest thing. You may have seen that i once referred to posts by Kallumama on here, used to be backed up with info, sometimes different. He moved to ASOS and IMHO was torn to shreds.
Just checked and he has not posted for months!
Any way Dogger , am interested to see you are an ex employee of PFD, I used to think go woke go broke, but now the shift has changed and actually it will be worth while to promote it.
My biggest concern in the current climate is the expected shift from premium brands to own label.
I actually think prem brands will still sell here in numbers, but can you confirm please if PFD make many own branded products for others?
Thanks.
And the share price takes a hit!
What can you do?
Well I am holding here, would buy more if I had the available funds!
But you are right Dogger, this used to be a hectic board!
I still maintain this is a simmering pot, will come to the boil unexpectedly one way or another.
People always need to eat and the rich are still getting richer, they like quality food and I believe that is what we do here. I also think the great production facilities mean we can produce food for all own brands across the retail market. Basically, we can turn our hands, in this changing, tough retail time. All the talk of hardship too, but have you seen any restaurants closing, because I haven't!
Times have changed, in days gone by,the gradual incline in pre results days, was followed by the slump on results day, what ever the results were!
Other food producers up yesterday, we were down!
Today a good start!
I am still ultra optimistic here and will be holding for the foreseeable.GLA
Well quite.Had an RNS for M&G earlier in the month. I do not comment on the impact be it good or bad, but would have hoped for some kind of news story/information to go with it. If you think of the days when Kallumama ( I think) and all were constantly on this board and the regular pieces of news from the company, it was all very different.
All is quiet, Kal' does not post on anything any more, hasn't for some months ( i used to follow when he went to ASB) where his views were not always appreciated like they were here.
I feel comfortable this is a positive share as mentioned previously, winding up in the back round. We shall see a bit more on 18th May i believe. Let sleeping dogs lie at the moment, then they wake up fresh and ready!
Count me in for 97500 please
I have sat here carefully watching, for some time. You will see from my history on this board that i am usually positive, but never over excited. I have no other basis other than, i believe I am witnessing a similar trend in share price to a stock I held years ago, prior to a bid coming in. I bet there would be a lot of takers (SH)for a decent bid, in the current world/economic climate at a price that is not fantastic, but as i mention, is decent. We shall see.
I am in no rush. Have a good weekend all.
I am completely gobsmacked, but really finding it hilarious.
We invest in a plant based foods company, but by the way we have just got involved with rare earth minerals !
I am keeping the faith, as I like a roller coaster! LoL
Good luck all.
Yeah great, a mix of old values with keen/eager staff, selection of new products ( mint Choc fancy looks tasty) and modern machinery and methods!
This is a great insight and makes me feel happy with my investment, drip, drip, drip of good news.... Can't see Mr Kipling, becoming Kiplings ( as in Uncle Bens becoming Bens), not yet at least!
Yeah, quite right, but I think the recommendation is just another little piece of a bigger foundation, which will lead to a springboard to the next level for this share, not quite yet, but in the foreseeable.
Need to just get the old stuff, completely tied up with no nasties to bite back.

I have been in PFD shares since the dormant days !
I believe the update today is good, and really the days of the rising share price before any announcement , leading to a quick decline, whatever the news , are gone! The company is completely different now in the way it is run. Those financial wizards, changing the pension deficit and the unforeseen cash intake from the last two years mean the benefits are all that we have mentioned etc etc
If the share price rises or drops on news then it will be with merit, not just because it always has. I also feel we are 80% of the way to what the board wants to achieve in the this section of the company revamp, they started a couple of years ago.
There will be bumps along the way, but an overall increase in SP and DIV.
The next section of the plan in business growth could be to add a couple of product types with an existing good brand that needs to be promoted. I am thinking a repurchase of Quorn, or something like the family owned brands Tunnocks or Golden Wonder, from Tayto. 40 years ago Golden Wonder were near on No1 snack manufacturer in UK, crisps, nuts etc
With PFD backing Walkers can literally take a hike!
All in my humble opinion of course, but I have been keen on this share since I got a wif of the review, after studying the business on Holiday in Spain 5 years ago. Its a medium term hold for me at least, no doubt.

I know what you mean here Dogger, but good to have relative stability, compared to when i came in at 43p.
This has become a "Keep calm and carry on" stock, sat in the back round. I am here for it to steadily grow into something big, over say the next 2 -3years, increase divi slightly, but as more debt is paid off, i maintain it has an edge of excitement as a takeover target. Can't deny it has a range of great brands.
All imho of course. Have a good festive period all.
Hi Rabbits.
I am thinking things have changed here.
Whereas it was predictable the price would drop on results day, I am looking at the situation in a new light.
A year at a steady level SP, we can all see a more positive structured approach from the board, debt reduced.
Great products and one other thing for me, this is the year for surprises, hopefully positive, in many ways similar to the M&S story at present. Up 30p on results day!
Can't say I've heard bad news for this business. I am sticking my neck out for a jump in price tomorrow and bought more @110p last week!
All imho of course!
