The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
how accurate is the resource estimate for Theta West? could these figures be significantly upgraded after drilling at the crest of the structure? Jay has repeatedly stated 'big oil fields get bigger', as is the case for Prudoe Bay, and i'm just wondering how that can be the case. cheers
i'm not sure i follow either. Pantheon acquired GB, so the concept of GB then acquiring Pantheon is a bit left field, but i suppose it is a possibility. i've not spent too much time looking at it but if the GB shares are non-voting (is that correct?) then they cannot influence company decisions, which can only be a good thing. As Olderwiser states the Mandatory offer at 30% is a form of protection as it prevents any party building a majority stake (on the cheap)
i think i can speak for the layman here ... the Talitha drill massively derisked the company: oil bearing zones to be tested this winter; potentially massive new play in Theta West; planned development of an existing discovery Alkaid later this year. I don't claim to be an expert in 88e but it would appear their projects are no where near as advanced as Pantheon's. Although 88e is expected to provide further details in the coming weeks and months so that could change. Also, my view is that the development of Panthon's projects is a bit more focused whereas it feels like 88e went on a bit of shopping spree for ANS licences. Just my take - good luck to all
its supposed to be published some time today, which could mean the webinar is being edited. at the time i thought Bob's comments on Theta West were bordering on price sensitive information, so i'm interested to see if they remain in the final version. Disclaimer alert: this is only my view and in the interests of Balance the comments might be removed because we're opinion based etc. But it's definitely keeping me interested
i wonder if anything will be edited out of the final version. i'm almost certain the Bob blurted something out about recoverable resource for Theta West which caught my attention at the time. Does anyone else remember that?
IF Theta West is as big as some are predicting (and there are some crazy numbers being bandied about) then i would think a farm in partner - and probably a big one at that - would be required. i doubt the company could or would want to raise the capital on it's own. Bob said the resource announcement is expected by the end of May. Theta West could have crazy potential for a company our size. Agreed, 'potential' doesn't come with a guarantee but this is the risk/reward game
i would agree with most of that. i do think shareholders deserve some sort of explanation for persevering with K when it wasn't the primary objective and the drill wasn't in the optimal location for this zone
just to confirm 100p target is Canaccord's, not mine! but i do feel today's drop is over done and i'm hopeful of a mini bounce to 30/31p mark. as i said earlier, the webinar could be the catalyst for a larger move north, and i think there should be plenty of news to look forward to. GLA
Most definitely, the content of the webinar could map the company's plans for the coming years. i expect decent news on Alkaid and i expect a lot of detail on the Theta West project (they have already alluded to farm out plans - lets see how realistic that is. yes, its been a bad day for shareholders but I believe there will be a lot of positive news for us, even if we have to wait a little longer ... and potentially negotiate a bit of funding. but, hey this is AIM and this is what we signed up for
