The paying out in lawsuits is cheaper than shutting down the country again, in part or in whole. So yes, in this instance, give the vaccine and pay the lawsuits after when they arise.

I personally feel though that a vaccine is a long way away and that we should just accept that COVID is here to stay and deal with it, same as the flu and cancer.

Do we want people to die from these terrible diseases? No. Will people die from them? Yes.

I purchased shares in EZJ, DRT, IAG, CCL, TUI & MGGT prior to their spike and subsequent plummet south. I am down between 28% - 12% down on all but CCL where I am 3% up. Travel-related stocks make up just over 50% of my portfolio. Have I dropped a clanger or do you all think it will swing back to me? 28% is TUI and that’s some drop. I’m just wondering how to handle my portfolio. Only 12 months into this investing lark, so advice is appreciated.

I’m 47% down, but am still very confident in the long term I will make from this. Had some cash to put in this morning, but averaged down on Capita instead of this. Next week, I will average this down....

Great reply Pmoran! I just cannot imagine humans not travelling. We’ve had two great summers in a row, but can you imagine what people would be like if we’d have had a miserable summer?! They’d be itching to get away.

I’m not an experienced investor at all, but I just see the travel sector getting battered and is for me, this is a good time to invest. I can sit on all of my investments for 10+ years. I don’t need the cash I’ve invested, so I can sit it out.

If CCL cannot survive this, who on earth can? I might have a company go bump on me, but hopefully the rise in the others will outweigh that.

I am investing, as opposed to trading. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think more traders frequent these boards than investors. I think traders will look elsewhere, but for investors, I think the travel industry is sweet right now. Around 40% of my portfolio is in travel and airplane-related stocks.

I simply cannot believe that we will not be back on planes and cruise ships within 3-5 years from now and my bruised and battered investments will look a lot healthier. EZY, DART, IAG, CCL, I am in them all! :-D

Numbers of COVID cases continue to rise, as from day one they will now continue to do.....for decades.

If we managed to log every single person that has had a common cold, that number would always continue to rise, as would every other disease and ailment from the dawning of mankind.

We will never be ‘free’ of COVID ever again, vaccination or no vaccination. So counting the number of people who have had it is completely pointless.

Logging death rates is far more important. U.S. cases continue to rise, but their death rate does not match. So all will be well and there is no need for panic, on this or a lot of other shares.

@disabledman I actually have a stepson who suffered five brain haemorrhages and a stroke in a single day. Went from a 32 year old, 6’ 2” six times a week gym goer to Critical care for 7 weeks in a coma, nearly dying twice, living in two hospitals for 13 months and is now living in a care home where he is very likely to live for the rest of his days,, losing most of his speech and Use of his right side in the process.

So yes, I know about disability. Be he too reaped more than he sowed. He binge drank every weekend, took coke every weekend, took steroids, all knowing he had high blood pressure. Does he deserve what he got? No. But if the younger him would have looked after his body better, he wouldn’t need 24/7 care for the rest of his life.

Same as a lot of people in the high risk COVID categories. They wouldn’t be there if they looked after themselves better in their younger days. True story, whether people want to admit it or not.

The ‘cure’ of closing down the global economy is way more devastating than the virus was ever going to be. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

They should have introduced social distancing, protected the vulnerable and let the virus spread under those circumstances.

People would have died. So what? Who would have died? Broadly speaking, self-abusers such as smokers, the drinkers, the obese and other people who could have looked after their younger self better than they did and have heart and lung complications as a result later in life.

You do not reap what you sow. You reap MORE than you sow. It’s a proven fact and is called the ‘Matthew Principle’. Those who have little will have more taken away. To those who have more, more will be given. It is in fact, a cornerstone of why we all invest.

I am in here, DART, TUI, EASY, CARNIVAL and other travel related. They all won’t stay down past July.

Thanks Londoner. Seems good advice. Still less than 12 months into my investing journey. Started out in the bright lights of huge % increases in AIM. Ha! Learned some stuff there I tell you!

Out of AIM and never to return. Got spiked off the back of euphoric comments on BBS more than once, like you say. As of today, I have managed to recoup all of my losses via 100 & 250 stocks. This is where I will stay now.

I’m 40 and run my own businesses, so can tolerate some risk. Now I have recoloured my losses through a tiny bit of trading and lots of buying last week for rises this week, I need to change focus to banking some profit.

I can do a small amount of trading, but my main focus will be longer term investing I think. I want to skim some profits and invest in the next stock that attracts my interest.

Any specific books you can recommend?

A few on here were telling me my 67p average was too high? Not everyone wants instant success. Some can sit tight.

I made my biggest investment into the market on Friday, throwing £6k into mainly travel stocks.

Now I just need to learn how and when to pull profits at a time like this when everything g is rising. So if anyone can give me a few tips, I’d appreciate that.
