Here, the PTC ThingWorx IoT platform and the KeyScaler TM from Device Authority prove to be a suitable combination to produce IoT functionality on the one hand and highest data security on the other hand.

While ThingWorx provides all the features around the Digital Twin, KeyScaler is a key management system that acts as a third, independent instance between the IoT platform and Devices. It generates the asymmetric keys based on established crypto algorithms (RSA). To ensure high security, KeyScaler uses the Dynamic Device Key Generation (DDKG), which means that the keys used are device-specific and are cyclically changed or only valid once. This minimizes the risk of spying and copying keys. For applications in which there are insufficient resources for DDKG on the medical device, KeyScaler offers the PKI Signature + method as an alternative in which the key management in the device is based on a TPM chip. Both with DDKG and PKI Signature + the Device Trust becomes scalable without any manual steps. Based on this technology, further applications such as temporary service access or encryption of complete files can now be easily realized.
