The Foreign Office has been told to prepare for "crisis mode" after weapons are flown from Britain to Ukraine in a bid to bolster the country's defence against a Russian invasion. It comes as US intelligence suggests Russia plans to take over the country's capital and overthrow the government.

The UK's Defence Secretary Ben Wallace announced, on Monday, that Britain has begun supplying Ukraine with new light anti-tank weapons in response to "increasingly threatening" behaviour from Russia.

Wallace also confirmed that "a small number" of British troops would provide training to help Kyiv's forces to use the supplied arms.
