European airlines prepare for record summer passenger numbers
Ryanair, easyJet and Wizz Air point to signs of strong demand despite economic gloom and high ticket prices.
Ryanair, easyJet and Wizz Air, the region’s three big low-cost airlines, all pointed to early signs of strong summer demand, as well as rising fares, in their most recent results.
Airlines are on course for a second consecutive bumper summer, after reporting healthy profits thanks to high fares last year.
EasyJet said it had been filling two planes a minute during its busiest booking periods since the start of this year, while Ryanair said this week that bookings were about 5 per cent higher than at the same time last year, and prices were up “by a low single-digit percentage’.
EasyJet said prices were “well ahead” of the same time last year, while Wizz Air also pointed to strong fares.
“We see positive booking momentum for summer 2024 with travel remaining a priority for consumers,” said easyJet boss Johan Lundgren.
“It’s absolutely supply against demand. People still want to travel and — notwithstanding the cost of living challenges — consumers are prioritising experiences,” said Andrew Lobbenberg, head of European transport research at Barclays.
Analysts at Bernstein said in a recent note that current European airline capacity was “well below its pre-pandemic growth path”, forecasting a 15 to 20 per cent shortfall in seats compared with demand.
“The real issue is that we think there is a lot more demand than what we are able to deliver,” said Váradi.
Compared with Amerisur Resources and Sirius minerals, the take over of BCN is not that bad, particularly if you dared to buy when SP is below 20p last year. I will vote for the deal.
'However frankly I hold a fatalistic view here, I think its pretty much done', I have the same feeling. It happened to 'Amerisur Resource' and 'Sirius Minerals'.

Don't try to wait for the bottom. You should buy it when you think the sp will go up significantly in 6 or 12 months.

Texas regulator and shale executives try to find solution to falling oil demand and prices
Opec has held talks with a Texas state energy regulator and US shale producers about co-ordinated cuts to oil output — an unprecedented move by some of the world’s biggest producers to counter the impact of the spread of coronavirus on fuel demand.
I like the idea. They can find an opportunity or can buy back the shares if the SP will go down further.
I bought 20k this morning @15p, unbelievable.
What news?
BCN might be an example. They failed to raise money in the summer of 2018, and the SP was dropped from over 130p in early 2018 to 16p in early 2019. In the summer of this year, they found a strategic partner who bought a large proportional of shares (about 50%) with the price of 25P. The SP is moving in the range between 30 and 45 afterwards, and the closing SP is 31.15P on Friday. If we are lucky and can find a strategic partner, this may give us a hint on what SP will move. It depends largely on what SP strategic partners will agree to take.
I have the same feeling. Invested heavily here. May have to be patient.
Stroga, a bit better than you, -47.18%. Topped up a little bit with 15.8 and 14, but seems a falling knife. Look forward to the reply of your email from PS. GLA.
This year's dividend is lower!
Those are the worst investigation so far for me (even worse than some stocks I bought before 2009). So far, KDNC was down 77.49% and BCN down 22.52%.
Hi MT3, I don't think we have fundamental difference here, just be cautious. Don't use all your ammunition right now and also don't invest a large proportion of your money to a company having a single project only (certainly I don't suggest to sell at the current sp). You may have a better chance later. GLA, JQ
