Obscene ….they already trouser more than ‘cancer surgeon salaries’ for the very short period they have been learning the ropes around the complexities of ‘the counting of the BP beans’.
Not to worry - the BoD can just issue a new block of shares to make up the deficits.
What was all this buyback smokescreen ?
Thank heavens these extra extra bonus awards are performance related.
What performance KPI, one wonders ?
Fantastic drive to market Iraq and its resources. Can only be good news for the peoples of Iraq.
However:
Must get payments sorted out, a stable export structure, Kurdistan annexed (or cut out)….. and work at keeping your promises - or nobody will touch investing in you r country with a barge pole.
Buyback strategy off to it’s usual influence on SP already this morning ;)
What would have happened had they announced even a minor raise in dividend instead ?
Lackluster BoD and we get what we deserve re performance.
Time a modern, dynamically managed energy company took pity on us and made an offer for the dinosaur’s bones, innit ?
SHELL … please ?
Think a bunch of wee shareholders would opt for the discretionary spare cash going on dividend enhancements - rather than the mythical benefits which minor buybacks are said to give.
Think about it:
The knowledge of a higher dividend strategy boing adopted by BP would make the shares more attractive in the market and a positive effect on the SP.
A debt is unpaid, who was the bill sent to for payment, presumably there exists somewhere a contract governing the conditions of payment, the recipient hasn’t paid within that time limit…. take them to court seeking payment (plus interest).
I suspect that were the circumstances reversed - we would feel the full wrath of that court in recovering payment ?
It’s that simple.
Unless of course, no enforceable contract exists, or we are operating under a dictatorship with no accountability to anyone anywhere (until the regime is brought down).
Buybacks never, never make a measurable difference to the SP.
The shares are usually held in treasury …. to be later given out as additional bonuses to the BoD as rewards to supplement their fabulous salaries.
This is one of the main purpose of the remunerations committee.
The giveaway is that the buybacks continue even when the SP is peaking (like what it is doing now) !…. Bonuses time on the horizon soon then ? ;)
KRG have effectively broken their contract with is by not paying according to same contract.
KRG compounded the felony by indirectly involving us in exporting the oil illegally via Turkey.
ICG claim that the local IOC contracts within Kurdistan are not legal under Iraqi law anyway.
Why don’t the ICG offer us a new, legal contract then ?
Why are they afraid of the wealthy KRG tribal rulers ??
Sounds simple S-cat…. What’s holding these four dreams up then ?
1) PSC - are we under Erbil or Baghdad rule ?
2) Is there anyone on either political camp capable of technically understanding any FDP in order to decide on the ‘best’ option ? Best to accept whichever facilitates the score for pilfer.
3) Firstly: Identify Where the funds withheld from our outstanding invoices evaporate to ? ) ….. that will kick off a shipload of biscuit meets which will outlive most of us on here I suspect.
4) Where, in the Regions comprising Iraq, (extend that to the entire Middle East), could one find a politician not in it solely for personal wealth generation ? Remember where we are attempting to run a n honest business……
Shell is a dynamic company run by highly qualified and experienced young professionals.
Hope they take us over and sprinkle some of their magic on our tired old bones.
I get a bit dispondent when I compare the BP BoD to them.
$10 a pop and they can have my pot tomorrow.
So, 17months more of lame duck excuses, lies, promises, and interminable biscuit meetings going nowhere.
The Master Plan is obviously to delay things at every turn, then to break Barzanistan way from Baghdad, see off us troublesome little IOCs - and take over the lot of us ?
Bar-z boys and their tribal mates the Erdogans will magically agree to open the taps…. and serious wealth with flow to both famillies.
Feeling a bit used and abused.
……. Response only depends only on what’s in it for those in power.
They must be green with envy when they see how wealthy their colleagues in Erbil have become through playing ‘The Oil Game’ with a region’s natural assets - denying the greater population of a share in the wealth, and bullying defenceless IOCs.
Caggins\AKIPUR need to inform the ICG that the IOCs (operating under what they deam
to be illegal contracts) have not been paid according to these illegal contracts, and that it is strongly rumoured that the oil being forwarded to Kurdish agents is in turn being sold onwards to sanction breaking countries.
AKIPUR members wish then to have no part in such dealings, and elect to be removed from these illegal contracts.
How does Erdogan intend paying off Turkey’s ICC fine of $1.5B (and mounting) ?
Hope Baghdad have not made a backdoor deal to starve out Kurdistan from exporting through Turkey’s pipes in return for waiving the fine ?
Then again ….. nothing would surprise around here.
The outcome tomorrow depends solely on what’s in it for the Erdogan familly….. remember where we are, and what the hidden agenda for all participants always comes down to.
Fingers crossed (yet again) however.
