as i have explained before that $15m is all risk, ie they have to find the targets Scancell already has them, so any upfront payment has had all the risk removed of the search ........... so for BioNtech its a win win .... no risk capital outlay as the discovery has already been made. which is why i said the upfront could be significant ................ I feel its important that the value placed by BioNtech in moditope already is considerable, After all they are doing a lot of ground work before committing and in conjunction with Scancell, So the upfront might be a lot higher than expected, I have pointed out many times, deals involving searching for epitopes are valued at over �25m for NON universal epitopes ie those that can be attributed to only one cancer. That search can fail so its very high risk capital expenditure, These three moditope epitopes cover a large group of cancers, not quite universal but a lot more than one target..
