I was in very early but managed to make an excellent return between 97-65 selling out. Is it time to buy in again? Any sensible answers appreciated. I don’t have any idea.

You have to realise that in my mid 60s having been a massive risk taker in my business life for 4 decades always locked away what I made 50/50 in buy to let rest stock having had a big standard of living but avoiding the porche trap and casinos and kept my mrs beyond belief I can say I did best I could and had a whale 🐳 of a time around the world and now enjoying my shooting and golf. I still love to listen to the idiots who haven’t a pot to p£&Zac in.

Sensible post. Very rare on this stock. How you ever put over 50% into one AIM share is beyond belief you must have got really sucked in. Some of these posters ramping need educating and a course on morality. My reasonable success over the years has been 70% investment trusts 20% blue chip and footsie 250 and 10% playing with AIM for fun.

Sadly the future profits lay in so called super pubs. Marston can lift there profile in these pubs with large enough kitchens to provide good offerings. Lodgings doing well too. Probably best to concentrate on tied houses with good drinks sales without food till there are more super pubs. Look at Wetherspoons profits today announcements all big pubs

Biggest weakness is their food quality. They need to look at Mitchell and Butlers take on food. They have about 4 quality levels depending on house and location. All Marston’s seem to offer is seaside cafe horrible photo picture menus and the food really poor. Think some new management needed in food side. Counter that with great beer brands and self supply with them. Sell off all small houses urgently needed. All the same should get back to 140 in due course.

I am well down on my average price however dividend reinvestment is softening the pain. 6% yield so nice. Feel they aught to go upmarket in their nice country houses and sell off the dross that poor people frequent very sad places. Brewing brands very strong will come good.

They have a brilliant range of bitters and medium size breweries. The strength of those brands will come good. Pity about most of the food offerings. Suggest they go up market in the houses that can do that. Together with better margins on beer in those houses too. Seem to be a bit Green Kingesh on the food side. All the same can see long term gains.

General problem with AIM if there is little volume they just mark down to provoke business. It’s not like those who want to sell can’t. Far from that. I am happy to sit on many small caps but this frustrating. Needs some new regulations.
