Scarf Partridge and other doubters. Jumped British Aerospace on completion of HNC and apprenticeship. Was at Wembley 66 not Woodstock but was in design office in Amsterdam for Live aid weekend. I did the design job shopping circuit in Europe and US with H1b visa. It’s a happy family but is gruelling and you do have to cut it. Average was £1500-£3500 pw year in year out. A lot paid conveniently say no more. My circle have enough money they can’t spend it after 30 years at it. I wouldn’t touch AIM if that isn’t the case. It’s not boasting all my colleagues are interesting. Must be something to do with having balls. Could have finished up with Bae and a pension off 45k salary.

Jez you can only do what is available in your era. You know all this university fever was a product of recent governments to massage dole figures. I went the technical apprentice route with my 5 O levels and one A level while I re did some O levels. Ended up with an HNC in mech engineering which was good enough to job shop in Aircraft design all over the world without the burden of a loan. There’s some complete madmen in that game but they could all excel in maths and science. Certainly happy I didn’t have to sell tat on eBay.

I posted last night. Even at an excellent Grammar school vas majority left with good string of O levels at 16-17 yr. Smaller group went on to do A levels. These were top 15% of grammar. From that 2-4% went to university rest of intake from public schools. Many with strong o levels went into professions. Sorry Oxford Brooke’s not even level of OU today. Keep up your eBay.
