About time that the windfall tax position is correctly reported in the mainstream press. There already is a windfall tax in place. The way people like Beth Rigby (Sky) report it you would think that the government has flat refused to apply one.

Next thing for the media to do is to end the nonsense around the £170 billion in windfall profits. The vast bulk of those profits (whatever the correct figure) are made abroad and taxed where the profit is made. Perhaps they would like BP and Shell etc to leave the UK completely? The UK portion is only a fraction of that amount.

What is worrying though is that Labour, if they win in 2024 and nasty Momentum emerge from the Trojan horse, will apply backdated windfall taxes. Labour did much the same thing under Gordon Brown to the sold off utility companies, sold off by the Tories before Labour came to power.

Broken thru £2 barrier on the down side yesterday probably due to the ABF warning. Must be losing customers to the likes of Lidl too. People have got to buy food whether we are in a reccession or not but not neccesarily from SBRY I suppose.

Had been waiting for £2 to break but I think I will watch and wait now.

Pretty decent, well covered divi, recent results were pretty good IMHO.

Why would the tax calculation not be as follows:

PBT £200m.
Tax due at 65% = £130m.
Serica invests £100m in exploration etc.
90% of 100m reinvested = 90m tax reduction
Tax to be paid = 130m minus 90m = £40m

Why would there be an RNS straight away, if at all? The BOD will need time to do thier sums and consider thier position.

If Serica is most exposed to this windfall tax (according to Proactive), where is the £5 billion going to come from over the next year? Sericas total market value, today, is not even £1 billion.

Chomsky was good years ago but he is now a senile, rambling old fool. I lost all respect for him when he said he was in favour of people who refused the covid experimental vaccines being "isolated from society" because of the danger they represent to everyone else. If Chomsky can believe that then he has, I am afraid, lost the plot.

They state that they need to raise money by Jan 2022. Whether they do or not is a different matter entirely. Who on earth will invest thier money in BOR? How and when will the investor see ant profit?

This deal is a concern? How? An agreement has been reached with US about the treatment of the Iranian share of Rhum. Its essentially being held in escrow. Nothing Iran can do with it unless it comes out of escrow. That will not happen until sanctions are lifted or if another agreement is reached with the US about the treatment of the Iranian share. Iran has no leverage at all under the current arrangements.
