(AIM: CNS), the AIM listed network security company, is pleased to announce that Andrew Lloyd, currently a non-executive director of the Company, has been appointed President and Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing for Corero. Andrew will move into an Executive role on the Board following his appointment. Andrew Lloyd has been involved in the IT software and systems sector for more than 25 years. His career has included successful roles with large corporations including Oracle and Computer Associates, as well as high-growth ventures including PrismTech and, most recently, private equity-backed Workplace Systems. At Oracle, over an eight year period Andrew held a number of leadership sales roles on both sides of the Atlantic. Thereafter, as VP Security Management at Computer Associates ("CA"), Andrew was responsible for sales and marketing of CA's security management business (known as e-Trust) across the EMEA region. From 2008 to 2013, Andrew held the position of Senior Vice President of PrismTech Group's OpenSplice business. In 2013 he joined Workplace Systems, where he was Chief Customer Officer and part of the leadership team which subsequently sold the business to US-based WorkForce Software in June 2016. Following the sale, Andrew was appointed SVP Sales for WorkForce Software with responsibility for leading the sales teams in EMEA and Asia Pacific regions while completing the post-acquisition integration of the Workplace Systems business. Andrew will be responsible for leading Corero's commercial expansion and sales growth. In conjunction with Andrew's appointment, Dave Larson, Chief Operating Officer, will be leaving Corero to pursue other interests. Dave Larson was not a Board member but considered a PDMR. Jens Montanana, Chairman of Corero, commented: "We are delighted that Andrew has agreed to join Corero as President and Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing. His skillset and experience of both growth companies and large multinationals will be invaluable as we drive our revenue growth and establish Corero as a leading player in the DDoS mitigation market."

n a move that should improve Ireland’s prospects of achieving its ambitious 2020 renewable electricity target, the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment has extended the connection deadlines that apply under the terms and conditions of the REFIT 2 support scheme. REFIT 2 is a feed-in tariff scheme that was established in 2012 and is intended to support the development of up to 4,000MW of electricity generating capacity, from wind, hydro and biomass landfill gas technologies. Progress under the scheme is incentivised through the imposition of various deadlines, including a deadline for the initial support application (31 December 2015) and deadlines for the connection of each project that is admitted into the scheme. There have been extensions to three important deadlines: the construction/energisation deadline has now been extended from 31 December 2017 to 31 December 2019; the off-take deadline has been extended from 30 September 2018 to 31 March 2020; and the deadline to meet the application conditions in respect of full grant of planning permission and grid connection has been extended from 31 December 2016 to 31 December 2017. However, projects will not receive support beyond 31 December 2032, which means that less than the standard 15 years’ support will be available to some delayed projects and the Department has stressed that no new applications can be submitted under the REFIT scheme. The Irish government is targeting the consumption of 40% electricity from renewable sources by 2020, which is estimated to require that 4,000MW of renewable generation stands installed – relative to the 2,500MW that is currently connected. A number of larger wind energy projects are understood to have effectively been put on hold, as various delays had rendered their turbine construction programmes incapable of delivery by 31 December 2017 – to the extent that delivery of Ireland’s 40% target was also threatened. The extension of the connection deadline will relieve this immediate threat and should prolong the current buoyancy in the Irish wind energy sector.

The fundamentals underpinning the rather frugal valuation are solid. Revenues are expected to increase four-fold this year to just under £20m, according to WHI. Tavistock is expected to make its first annual profit in 2017, at which point turnover is expected to be in the order of £33m. The firm has even signalled its intent to pay a dividend. WHI expects to it be modest at around 0.1p a share, but still better than a poke in the eye. Raven and chairman Oliver Cooke are best known for Card Clear, a pioneer of fraud protection for credit cards and one of the first stocks to list on the alternative market back in the 1990s. The dynamic duo built up Card Clear (which changed its name to Retail Decisions) from a start up to a value of around £100m and will be hoping to repeat the alchemy with Tavistock. “The tactical approach we have taken in the past of creating an investment vehicle and building value hasn’t changed,” said Raven.

According to a statement released by Nokia and Deepfield, the acquisition will "extend Nokia's leadership in real-time, analytics-driven network and service automation, providing customers including communications service providers, cable operators and cloud, webscale and large technology companies with greater network and application insight, control and DDoS protection."
