Much of what was released had already largely been flagged in the trading statement from January, so it was really more about the year ahead and beyond that interested holders or watchers. Focused on trading and risk management solutions relating to commodities and the like, Brady reported EBITDA of £3.5m which given the previous years £5.6m was clearly a disappointment. EPS was also markedly lower at 2.78p and the shares duly dropped off a couple of pence to 67p. However as already mentioned, this one had been flagged and it is really about the future and executing on the more recent progress that has been made. Recurring revenue improved from last years £14.4m to £16.6m, which accounted for a decent chunk of the £29.3m of the total. This should hopefully bode well for the coming years, which together with new business wins, some of which are with much larger players, puts the operations on a solid footing. Cash remains strong at £7.2m, while there was a small increase in the dividend to 1.7p per share. Highlights included 16 new contracts- a very strong second half, which included two record wins, one in the USA the other was in Asia. There was a 19% growth in cloud revenues, along with 26 major projects, including go-lives in Asia. The client base has now increased from 57 five years back, to more than 300, while the geographical reach has broadened extensively. Looking ahead the board is confident that the strong momentum in the business, as demonstrated by large contract wins in the last quarter and the impact of the restructuring of costs achieved in 2013 should result in significantly higher profitability in 2014 and beyond. It is also interesting to see the activist fund Kestrel now sitting on more than 10% of the company and it should be worth noting if they subsequently add. All in all, despite the past hiccup, Brady has the ability to further expand and deliver, while bolt-on acquisitions may well be on the cards.
