RE: NHS opinion8 Nov 2020 08:39
Adding to that I work in acute medical unit. Every patient is swabbed for covid as they enter the hospital. Rapid swabs are asked for any patient who is suspected or has to go to specialist area eg oncology (will not accept patients until they have a negative swab) routine for patients where it is not suspected. I can tell you hand on heart that there are many patients who covid was not suspected, not displaying symptoms, that have come back positive. I personally don't think I have had covid but at least half of my colleagues have had a positive result in the last few months and we have been wearing the masks for way longer. I cannot say for certain the chain of infection but what I can say is I don't think the box standard gives adequate protection. Therefore anything that is proven to help should be explored. The NHS is a funny animal tho, always feel that contracts are an old boys club, inflated for profit for the boys at the top of the chain. Does the NHS want to save lives or do they want to watch the pennies. That for me poses an interesting question.
