Investor12 - it's just my view (IMO) that Queeld are an unknown quantity - I was struck by the wording that the BoD used in the RNS regarding their shareholding (22-Jul-2020) which suggested they were not in close contact:
""According to the information available to the Company, the ultimate beneficial owner of Queeld Ventures is Galina Pchelkina.""
Hi Alta - yes still holding on!
It feels like we are approaching the end game at last - I am not 100% clear on the driver for the EGM shareholder vote but clear that the BoD are working a plan to maximize s/h value one way or another. Perhaps the BoD are planning to sell a % of the Rosgeo JV to Japanese investors - what would they pay for a 10% share to secure PGM supply? $1B?
Thanks for the links and info on auction prices - I would agree "very cheap" at those levels !
Best of luck
NTTG - yes absolutely agree we would expect the auction price to be discounted - I wonder if anyone has any info on precedents for Russian minerals auction pricing levels ? It would enable a rough calc on valuation .. otherwise it's a bit of a guess !
The Japanese investment could be for a slice of the Rosgeo JV .... rather than for EUA shares. Quite common for Japanese trading houses to take small % in project JVs in the O&G world in order to secure offtake ...
Just an observation - when we say none of the potential bidders is holding significant shares ... what if a bidder has teamed up with a significant shareholder or vice versa? The mysterious Queeld Ventures perhaps ...?
Don't forget that in the event of no sale there would be the release of asset information currently covered by the NDAs under the FSP ... we don't know what that asset information amounts to in terms of share value but it has evidently been sufficient to attract several non-binding offers ...
Nornickel to spin off Bystrinsky copper project https://seekingalpha.com/news/3676937-nornickel-to-spin-off-bystrinsky-copper-project
Morning Judge - I assume the NDA must take precedence as it is part of a formal FSP - otherwise DFS and other information on assets would have been released. In the event of a no sale as is often debated on here - imo the release of all the DFS and other information on assets would boost the sp well above current levels ...
From earlier, for info ...
(Bloomberg) -- MMC Norilsk Nickel PJSC, the world’s biggest producer of palladium and refined nickel, has partially suspended two of its main Arctic mines due to water inflows at one of the interconnected operations.
The Oktyabrsky and Taimyrsky mines account for about half of the ore mined annually by Nornickel. The company’s shares dropped as much as 6.5% on the news, while prices for both nickel and palladium rose.
It’s not clear how long operations will be affected while Nornickel takes measures to stop the inflow, which was first detected Feb. 12 at Oktyabrsky. Groundwater is a common challenge at deep mines, although it’s less usual for producers to report any inflows.
