Even after the recent strong run and subsequent 20% pullback the long term argument for gold is unchanged.

Paper currencies are under strong attack and countries are exxhanging their own currencies for gold and hoarding it.

I expect Russia, India, Poland etc etc know whats coming. Also the USA could reset gold price to reduce their debt. Trump wants to reduce or even wipeout the US debts and resetting gold to 10k or 20k would do this.

I see no way out for paper currencies.

Gold has corrected from 43 to 39 which after the run is sensible.

I'm interested to see how it plays out.

I've always agreed that they have leading edge technology but have also always said the management is totally incompetent, therfore my negative view.

The problem AWE has with the bid is I believe they are incapable of progressing the company with their current management and so a quality management from Qualcomm would help.

However, this puts AWE on the back foot in takeover negotiations as without a takeover the future is unclear.

Qualcomm will know this, as well as major AWE shareholders and so if Qualcomm walk away the AWE sp will fall sharply.

Qualcomm may bid at the current price or even sub 100p as they have AWE over a barrel IMHO.

The AWE management are complete idiots so I'd expect most of them to be fired after a takeover.

After all, Qualcomm want the ip for the technology and have no interest in the management

The reason I put the fluffy words in my 6 reasons that this company is bad is for avoidance of libel laws.

Libel applies to discussion boards like this one and so posters need to abide by the law.

So I deliberately and carefully qualified my post with saying it was opinion rather than fact.

Similarly with positive comments which may contain privaledged information then the insider dealing laws apply to this discussion board also.

It is what it is, and if people want to ignire my "opinions" they are welcome.

It's a free world apparantly, so people should be able to post stuff without getting stamped on like I have for the past 2 years.

As you say I invested just after IPO time and was positive at the time.

There was a lot of smoke and mirrors from Barclays and from my contacts was told to dump out asap and go short (which I did and was shorting from 270p downwards and I continue to short on any uptick).

I have given reasons many times to you and listed them all why I'm short... But yoyr rose tinted spectacles seem to have forgotten about this.

AWE will continue trading while there is money in the coffers for the directors to take as salary, dividends and bonuses....so the golden goose will be kept alive for a while yet.

You obviously are taking no responsibility for dragging people into this Titanic with all your verbose posts which naive newbies will be taken in by.

Anyway, I'll continue to short, even when it goes to penny share levels.

I know you sold all your shares a few months ago, so have tou bought back in at some point.

As you know, I don't trust the directors one inch.

This will go bust, but only after the directors have filled their pockets and those of their mates.

You should analyse where all the cash has gone and whose pockets it gas gone to.

It may reveal what's really happening here.

These are NOT peripheral type directors who know little of the industry and I find the AWE announcement quite insulting to Susan, Rosalind, Paul and Victoria.

In my opinion I suspect they don't want to continue in their roles for professional reputation reasons.

I have continually warned private investors about this company over the last 2 years.

Investors need to study a company's USP AND the directors and people running it.

On this board some people supporting this company were so focused on the technology but failed to study the directors.

I have always said that I don't trust the directors and I think many in the city agree.

Be it at your own risk if you decide to buy at "bargain basement" prices. They are at this price for a reason.

I have always said this company will go bust once all its cash assets have been used up.
