I have 20 - a mixture of ETFs (water, Vanguard 60/40, Infrastructure, Gold miners GDXJ and GDGB) a chunk in UKW which pays a good dividend, too many gold stocks, a gold royalty company, a couple of Covid-related stocks, physical silver and gold, YCA and TIPS, about 25% in cash and my first holding - BRKB - which I've never traded and was my best performing investment until GGP :)) Very annoyingly or perhaps for the best, HL don't provide a facility to chart the value of your portfolio over time so I've no idea if I could have done better by putting all my money into BRKB. I have had a several bad ones over the years - Sound being the one of the worst. Got out of Xcite before it blew up and HUR too. Portfolio Visualizer is very good but, as the spelling suggests, is a US site and sadly nothing like it exists for us afaik.

I went to the OMI website and left very quickly after reading

I leave that kind of investment to a mining ETF - too risky for me.

If you take the total number of shares bought and sold = 5 million and the total value of trades of £12,429,628
+£11,712,781 = £24,142,409 you get an average price of 20.71p . Assume a 2% spread and you get an average sell price of 20.5p and an average buy price of 20.9p.

I know there was a lot of discussion yesterday about the broker's note and I didn't read all of it so this might have already been said. Berenberg attribute $413 million to Greatland's other Paterson holdings and even if they have access to the latest drilling results on Scallywag etc there would still be nothing like enough information to assign a value to those holdings to the nearest $1 million - their estimate is ludicrously accurate. I think they did a flaky analysis of the Havieron deposit and then worked out how much Scallywag etc had to be worth to get to the current share price or thereabouts.

Makes a lot of sense to me - how can two parties come to a mutually agreeable price for a resource based on a MRE which will almost certainly be much lower than the final resource size? An initial payment based on the MRE + additional staged payments seems sensible. I just don't see NCM buying the chunk of Havieron they don't own in go. We shall see, hopefully in the not too distant future.

FWIW if I was the Newcrest CEO I would leave things as they are and get GGP to put up their share of the mine development costs and would not consider a buyout of GGP. The problem is that, as many folk have said here, the MRE is just the beginning so how do you come up with a mutually agreeable price for the remaining 25% of Havieron that suits both NCM and GGP shareholders when the full extent of the resource is unknown? Some kind of deal based on a base line deposit size and continued payments as the resource is developed I suppose. I would prefer a buyout because it saves me the headache of deciding when to sell but I'm not banking on it at all. Maybe easier for NCM to leave things as they are and pay GGP their share of the value of the gold produced and consider other JVs when they come up. That would be my cunning plan.

When Jason Urban recommend around 5-7% of your fund in gold I felt a bit queasy given my weighting of about 70% in gold, silver, gold royalties and gold miners, with a large chunk of that in GGP! Throw in a chunk in Uranium and a review of my portfolio is in order perhaps.

I can't pretend I understand a lot of this article but it is an interesting read.

Gravity of 2.0 seems awful low to me. I thought it somewhere between 2.5 - 3.0 is a more reasonable value.

Try plotting the share performance of VANECK VECTORS GOLD MINERS UCITS ETF GBP (GDGB) vs PHGP - for the period in which there is common data (from July 2017) Gold is up 43% and Gold Miners etf is up 73% approx.

WelshFalcon I read your post and the comment about clicking on the GGP Directors Deals icon above so spent ages looking for the link to the information - I didn't register the word Icon so thought I was looking for a hyperlink to another site that someone else had posted. Been all over the board looking for it and then it clicked...... Maybe I'm not as sharp as I used to be!

But they have better info than we do so why offload shares before 23rd July if they thought the news would be good?? I know they have a lot of options and shares but if they don't need the money - and of course I don't know if they do or don't - why not hold on for greater profit? I'm holding on but a bit puzzled.

How do you arrive at 36 million ozs between Havieron and Scally? I'm not aware of any estimate for Scally.
